I have always had back problems but not as severe as the one I'm having now. I have been to the chiropractor a half a dozen times. I have been to the massage therapist a half dozen times. I have had x-rays and blood work done. I have been to my Dr. and all he puts me on is painkillers. I do not want to rely on the meds, but no one can tell me what is bothering me.

It's astonishing how many exercises someone can do with bodyweight training to either accomplish muscle gain or fat loss. The standards are chinups, pushups and squats, just like in gym class, but there are other impressive movements that will get you stronger when you stick them into your routines.

I agree with you Mitchell. I've made the switch to muscle tension and it increases your lift capability when you go to lift more. I usually like to test myself once a month to see where I'm at.

Increase the load is one way to overload the muscles for gains. I actually like to increase the time under tension before adding on more weight to my lifts. It'll show you were you're really at...you may even be surprised by how strong, or not strong, you really are.

I'm sorry to hear that Carrie. I'm glad to see you still exercise. I've had to stop running in the past due to foot and knee problems but have been fortunate to be able to continue. I'll check out your site.
